When I tell people that my business is called Come Together Cards, I get a couple of questions. The funniest is “Are you a big Beatles fan?” (If you were born before the 1960’s and are drawing a blank, the Beatles had a song called Come Together). While I appreciate all good music, the Beatles were not inspiration behind Come Together Cards.

My goal, in working with paper, is not really paper. It is more what can come out of paper.  To reduce it to the simplest terms, paper can make relationships happen! Think about it. A love note, a birth announcement, a wedding invitation, a birthday card, a note of encouragement after a hard time. All these things may contain paper products, but are really so much bigger than the medium they are written on.

My background in Social Work gives me a natural bend to care about relationships, because I care about the people in those relationships. So, the idea behind Come Together Cards is the hope that we can be the way to facilitate good news, joyous occasions, and encouragement to the ones you love. And since we LOVE cute paper, Come Together Cards can help you communicate your news in the way the reflects you and your great personality.

And heck, if you say so, we can even throw out a Beatles song every now and then.

I am Courtney, aka the Cute Card Queen, and started Come Together Cards in 2005 when I realized that my favorite part of my social work counseling job was making the party invitations to invite my clients to events. I started making up events so I could make an invitation for it. (Okay, just kidding about that part.) When others in the agency started asking me to make invitations for their events, I realized I was filling a need for creative and personal stationery.

I have been married for 8 years to my best friend and the person that makes me laugh harder than anyone else. We have a 2 year old son who is obsessed with Mickey Mouse and flip-flops. I love my girlfriends, am challenged by Andy Stanley, inspired by Dave Ramsey, and crave anything that makes me think. I can’t put down a book once I start one and any perfect day for me involves a movie. (Okay, maybe any realistic perfect day. If I was in Maui, I would have no need to see a movie.)

My favorite scripture is Psalms 103. I think it is a beautiful passage about how much we mean to God. Because of the truth I find in scripture, I wanted it to be the foundation this site (and more so, the company!) is built on. You will see that there is writing on the background of the site. If you read it closely, you will read Psalms 103. You can miss all the cuteness of my site, but I hope you don’t miss out on the truth that God loves you.

If you are not familiar with this Psalm, here is what it says.

Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not his benefits.
He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases.
He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies.
He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!
The Lord gives righteousness and justice to all who are treated unfairly.
He revealed his character to Moses and his deeds to the people of Israel.
The Lord is compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.
He will not constantly accuse us, nor remain angry forever.
He does not punish us for all our sins; he does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve.
For his unfailing love toward those who fear him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth.
He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west.
The Lord is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him.
For he knows how weak we are; he remembers we are only dust.
Our days on earth are like grass; like wildflowers, we bloom and die.
The wind blows, and we are gone— as though we had never been here.
But the love of the Lord remains forever with those who fear him.
His salvation extends to the children’s children of those who are faithful to his covenant,
of those who obey his commandments!
The Lord has made the heavens his throne; from there he rules over everything.
Praise the Lord, you angels, you mighty ones who carry out his plans, listening for each of his commands.
Yes, praise the Lord, you armies of angels who serve him and do his will!
Praise the Lord, everything he has created, everything in all his kingdom. Let all that I am praise the Lord.

Beautiful, huh?
